FAQ
How is Cibolo Family Medicine Different?
Cibolo Family Medicine is a physician-owned medical practice that focuses on providing high-quality and convenient care for families. Our patients enjoy a one-to-one relationship with a distinguished physician who is empowered with the time and resources to hear patient concerns, investigate and evaluate potential solutions, and continuously monitor progress. Our core values include a commitment to excellence, family-focused care, and a dedication to providing the best possible patient experience.
-
What is Cibolo Family Medicine?CiboloFM is a direct primary care practice. We are a family health care clinic that offers immediate, comprehensive, affordable, and personalized care. Infants, children, adults, and seniors are welcome.
-
Can I contact my physician after hours and on weekends?Yes. Because illness and injury doesn’t always respect regular office hours, you may call, text, or email your physician any day, at any hour. It’s how we do personalized health care.
-
Is concierge medicine the same as direct primary care? The terms are often used interchangeably, but there are some differences. Direct primary care is a healthcare model focused on putting the patient first, without the barriers imposed by 3rd parties like insurance. That means treating you when you need it, never rushing through appointments, and being proactive with healthcare treatment plans. The doctor-patient relationship is just as the name suggests- direct. Direct Primary Care clinics don’t accept insurance, rather they choose to work directly with the patient, providing wholesale labs and discounted procedures and imaging along the way. We can use your insurance for 3rd party services where it saves you money.
-
What sets CiboloFM apart from insurance-based medicine? We have returned family practice medicine to its root values of clinical excellence and compassionate knowledge of every patient. In every aspect of family health care we promise accessibility, convenience, and affordability. Our doctors have far more time and attention for you than is possible with insurance-based medicine.
-
Does CiboloFM accept health insurance? No. Our model of care centers on a direct, personal relationship between you and your doctor. Insurance can be helpful in catastrophic situations, but insurance companies shouldn’t have a voice about the accessibility, quality, or cost of your family’s everyday health care. We forgo insurance in order to save our patients from the arbitrary, intrusive decisions that inevitably follow with third-party payers. Furthermore, this direct fee-for-services arrangement frees us from the typical contractual agreements that prevent physicians from offering wholesale prices on laboratory tests, imaging, and procedures.
-
Will I benefit from CiboloFM if I don’t require frequent medical attention?Of course. Everyone benefits from a service tailored directly to them. That’s why we offer custom healthcare. Our practice is devoted to the maintenance of your good health, and to the enhancement of your daily experience that only physical well-being can bring. In wellness and therapeutic care alike, our great ally is time. Every visit, for whatever reason, will be easy-going in its absolute thoroughness, relaxed in answering your questions and addressing the need of the moment. Then, as the months and years go by, we’ll build a comprehensive, intimate knowledge of your health, invaluable understanding available in no other regimen of care.
-
How can CiboloFM help my business? Do you offer group plans? We help groups of any size assemble the best care for their team. In the current system, businesses that provide health insurance are struggling to stay profitable due to rising insurance premiums. With the combination of direct primary care and a self-funded insurance plan, businesses can save enormous amounts of money while giving their employees a medical benefit second to none. The way the combination works is really quite beautiful. With the employees getting the majority of their healthcare needs taken care of without filing an insurance claim, this leaves a large amount of the claim pool, from the self-funded plan, leftover at the end of the year. A percentage of the money goes back to the business to use as it would like. Businesses using this model nationwide have been paid between 25-50% of their claim pool back, on top of saving money on a monthly basis. We can help your business save money that it needs to develop a new product or a hire a much needed employee. All the while, your employees you will be receiving fantastic care which can help decrease sick days. With our increased accessibility they will not have to waste half to a full day waiting at the doctor; we can get them in with virtually no wait time.
-
As a patient of CiboloFM, will I still need health insurance?Yes. We recommend that our patients continue to carry both a major medical plan or health sharing membership to ensure financial help in case of hospitalization or other major medical expenses. Just like car, home, and life insurance, health insurance works best when you never have to use it.
-
If I have Medicare, can I still join CiboloFM?Yes. You need only sign a one-time waiver declaring that neither you nor your doctor will directly bill Medicare for our services. Medicare will still cover any laboratory testing, imaging, medications, or hospitalizations prescribed by our offices.
-
What happens if I need to go to the hospital or see a specialist? In instances where those types of care are required, we can certainly communicate with your hospitalist or specialist to ensure they know your medical history. We will help coordinate your referral, and can even do pre-visit labs and care to make the most efficient use of your time. If you are hospitalized, the hospital will manage your treatment. During your hospital stay we want to stay connected and informed, and help inform any difficult decisions.
-
Can children become members of CiboloFM?Yes. We love kids, and we want to make sure they can be seen quickly. When your child is sick you want them to get quality care as soon as possible.
-
Are there any services at CiboloFM that cost me money in addition to the monthly membership?Lab tests and imaging from outside labs and radiology centers are offered to our members at our negotiated cost. This is generally 10% of retail and only 1/3 of what you would pay using insurance. And you'll know exactly what they cost before you choose to have them performed. If you prefer to use your insurance or Medicare for these services you may. Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment, vaccines and optional procedures like ear piercing may have extra charges.
-
What if I want to cancel my membership? No problem. If you are not completely satisfied with our care you may cancel at any time with no penalty. We require 30 days written notice for the monthly membership.
-
What if I need medical attention while I’m travelling? We will be able to streamline your care when you’re sick away from home. Many illnesses can be diagnosed and treated with a simple conversation by phone, email, or text. We’ll locate the nearest pharmacy and order the medications most appropriate for your circumstances. However, if you are out-of-country or if your symptoms indicate a more serious condition that requires a doctor’s visit, we will help coordinate an appointment with a doctor near you.
-
Are my medical records ever shared with government agencies, insurance carriers or pharmaceutical companies? We maintain scrupulous standards of privacy. Unlike insurance-based practices we are never obligated to provide any third party with access to your records, unless you specifically ask that we do so. Click Here to see our privacy policy. We do offer immtrac for children which is a convenient way to track your child's vaccines. If you'd like to opt-out just let us know.
