Compare the actual arrangement
Practices use these terms differently. Treat the table as a set of questions to ask each practice, not as a rule that every Direct Primary Care or concierge practice follows.
| Compare | Ask any practice | At Cibolo |
|---|---|---|
| Membership fee | Ask what the fee covers and when it is charged. | Adults and children have published monthly rates; see the pricing calculator. |
| Insurance billing | Ask whether the practice bills insurance as well as charging a membership fee. | Cibolo uses a Direct Primary Care membership model; it is not health insurance. |
| Appointments and messages | Ask how routine, timely and after-hours needs are handled. | Direct physician communication and timely appointments whenever possible are part of the published model. |
| Outside care | Ask how prescriptions, testing, specialist and hospital services are paid for. | Outside care can involve separate costs and appropriate insurance coverage. |
| Clinical fit | Ask which ages and health needs the practice can accommodate. | The office can discuss physician availability and whether your needs fit the practice. |
What does better access mean in practice?
Ask how to arrange routine appointments and what happens when a timely concern comes up. Find out who answers messages and how after-hours questions are handled. A general promise of access is less useful than an understandable process.
Cibolo offers same-day or next-day appointments whenever possible. Availability depends on clinical need and current capacity; membership does not guarantee that every concern can be seen immediately or treated within the office.
Look at membership and outside costs together
Ask what the membership covers and how laboratory work, prescriptions, imaging, specialist visits and hospital care are paid for. A monthly fee is one part of the cost picture.
Direct Primary Care is not health insurance. Cibolo advises maintaining appropriate coverage for needs outside primary care. If you have questions about an insurance or Medicare arrangement, confirm the details with the relevant practice and coverage provider.
Choose the relationship that fits your needs
- Can the practice care for the ages and health needs in your household?
- Which physician and office would you use?
- Can you understand the appointment and communication process?
- Are included services, outside costs and membership terms clear?
- Does the ongoing relationship match what you want from primary care?
